Carol was fantastic during the medication titration process for ADHD, which was quite lengthy with several different options tried as I turned out to be very sensitive to medications. Knowledgeable, supportive, patient, explained the process very well and listened to my feedback about side-effects until we finally found the right solution that has been really beneficial to me.

I was under Carol's care for some months and she provided me with the support I needed the entire time. She always listened to any concerns I had and took the appropriate action. As a result, she helped me find the medication and dose I needed to proceed with a healthy life. She is very helpful and does a tremendously good job, I would recommend her service to anybody needing it.

Carol was excellent. Whenever I had any questions she would respond quickly. She made me feel that I was being looked after, she would always call me when I mentioned any side affects of the medicines I had been taking. She'd explain the possible causes of these side affects and how I could mitigate them. She advised me to call my GP to make sure that they would enter a shared care agreement once I had completed my titration. She then detailed how the shared care agreement would commence and advised me on what to do. Once I had completed my titration she wrote up a report for my psychiatrist within the hour. I ran out of medicine before I could be transferred to a shared care, fortunately Carol posted me a prescription the next day and waived her prescription fee. Carol was absolutely excellent. Thanks Carol

Carol Shue was my nurse prescriber titrating for ADHD. I have nothing negative to say about her! She responded to each query swiftly, considered my individual case when deciding the best medication to try next, and decisions were made with my input and understanding (rather than over my head). Finding the correct medication for me was a bit of a journey (it would appear that I can be quite sensitive to these medications when not right!), but Carol made it as smooth a process as titration can be. The medication we found in the end is effective and with few side-effects.

Profile

I am a registered nurse prescriber. I started my journey as a mental health nurse by completing the recognised nursing course in the UK. Since qualifying as a nurse in 2011, I have worked in acute inpatient and community settings. I have helped pioneered the start of an NHS Adult ADHD service in 2011 and developed the service together with a Consultant Psychiatrist and provided a nurse led service for adults. Since 2011, I have participated in training conferences to help train other clinicians who were planning to start an adult ADHD service in their locality or those who have just started working in an adult ADHD service. I have given talks about the nurse led Adult ADHD service that I have helped pioneered in conferences/training sessions.

I was voted Clinician of The Year in 2017 in the NHS Trust I was working with, and this reflects my dedication and commitment to continue to develop my nursing practice and deliver the best nursing intervention to those in need.
